Organic land art
Development & reflection (9)
I looked into Richard Long’s art practice. I admire the process he developed during the making of his pieces — almost performance-like — , the way he chooses, picks, carries, installs, and photographs his land art fascinates me.

Richard Long uses raw materials found on the land. He modifies the space and ecologies of a chosen location, which he then photographs. He creates temporary pieces that only himself and the photograph might witness. Only a lucky hiker or animal could come across these alienist-like sculptures and installations. He almost acts as a secret mountain legend that everyone might talk about but never physically saw his art in-situ.
I considered these ephemeral and authentic practices within my work, but the whole pandemic did not allow me to travel and find natural spaces. I am going to keep this idea in the back of my mind for future projects.
I realized an artwork that was also fragile and organic was the Urban & Rural Garlic Mushrooms, which is a great achievement for me.

It is important to note that I live in Switzerland, a country with lovely mountains and beautiful biodiversity that inspires my art every day — you probably noticed that mountains are an often depicted subject within my practice. I am sure there are many resources and locations to go forward in my reflection and comprehension of my surrounding world.
